Towry sponsors The National Open Art Competition
Towry, the Wealth Advisers, is delighted to announce its sponsorship of The National Open Art Competition. The competition gives artists across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in painting, drawing, photography, print or design.
The National Open Art Competition aims to inspire all artists, young or old, amateur or professional and to widen the public's understanding and appreciation of art. The Competition, formally known as the Chichester Open Art Exhibition, was first held in 1995 and was originally conceived by the Duke of Richmond.
Artists from all over the UK are invited to submit their work; the closing date for this year's entries is 18th September, 2011.
The judging panel, chaired by Gavin Turk, will be tasked with selecting the best works, including those by young artists, as well as choosing nine regional winners. The first prize winner will be presented with The Towry prize, an award of £10,000. In addition, Towry will provide £9,000 for regional winners. This, along with other young artist and photography prizes, totals £40,000.
Andrew Fisher, Chief Executive, Towry, commented:
"We are delighted to be sponsoring The National Open Art Competition. At Towry, we are passionate about art and believe that there is enormous talent across the country that should be revealed and celebrated, which is why we have additionally created the Towry Prize for the overall winner of the Competition. We hope that artists all over the UK will be encouraged to enter their works and that each region in the UK can showcase its contribution."
Neil Lawson-Baker, Chairman, NOAC, commented:
"I am thrilled that Towry has committed to becoming the main sponsor of the Competition. We look forward to welcoming artists' entries to the competition and, together with Towry, making this one of the most important art competitions in the United Kingdom."
Towry has long supported the arts, most recently sponsoring The London Original Print Fair at the Royal Academy and hosting an exhibition by Keith Jansz, a member of The Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, at their London office to raise funds for Headway, the brain injury association.
